‘The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.’ Matthew 13:44
It seems every day and I get a new phone call from someone trying to sell me the new ‘thing’. Being a business owner, the number of people making a run at my time and bank account or offering financial advice and the next whiz-bang software to manage it, has multiplied. The distraction of making more money to have more tools becomes more prevalent and soon another ‘way’ has a foothold, distancing me from the Cross.
I’m very thankful for the sales we get. I’m very thankful for every opportunity that walks in the door. But, I have to be honest. I don’t pray that we have more. Opportunities to wash feet is the game. Sometimes it looks like a 24 inch valve and others, a 5 AM phone call for some inexpensive fitting.
God reveals to me daily this is a ministry and that everything I need is in Him. I know what’s in the center of that field. I know the value in selling out and giving everything to God and fully trusting him. I know the value in going to bed every night with one mission in mind.
Be encouraged brothers and sisters. He scours the earth for the one lost sheep. We in turn should throw off everything that ties us to this land and follow Him.
