‘Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known’ Luke 12:2
Undoubtedly my favorite store on the planet is Fishing Tackle Unlimited. There are literally thousands of lures adorning every row. Great, majestic, fish hang in fiberglass replicas from the ceiling and rods and reels of all colors and composites dress the stucco walls.
The mission is to entice every fishermen that walks through the door into taking a bite of what could be the next time he or she is on the water. The tackle in this store fools more than just your run of the mill 100# yellowfin.
Most of my life has been spent giving people only what they need to take a bite. For the most part, I dress like them, live like them, spend like them and go to church like them. I would do it for the audience of popularity, the audience of Facebook likes or the number of cars in my driveway. Whatever it took to only let them see what they needed to see.
The more miles I travel the further the give-a-care pointer moves in the opposite direction. God’s whisper gets louder and my desire to answer to Him, only, becomes the destination. While it saddens me that more don’t find this path, I know the lures of life have fooled them into taking a bite of a dream that will remain just that.
Be encouraged brothers and sisters. The God of creation has something in store for us that no eye has seen and no ear has heard. Colors and composites that will dress the walls in more splendor than every Mercedes-champagne-curbed-and-guttered-Freeman-bubble you can imagine. From one fisherman to another.
