A few days ago, one of our customers called at 4AM on a Sunday morning needing a pile of valves, in a hurry, for a ruptured water line. To the surprise of many, three of our dedicated manufacturers responded just 30 minutes after my first call, jumping through hoops and helping my team deliver 60 valves by 2:00PM the same day. As you can imagine, our made-of-gold customer was ecstatic.
A lunch-room conversation broke out a few days later and the inevitable question of “how did you do that so fast” surfaced. While the answer is somewhat simple, the commitment to follow through is not. I told my client that we strive to pay all of our vendors as soon as possible, even if we have to dip into savings in order to do so. Yes, most give us terms, but, it is important to me to communicate our appreciation for their partnership.
When you have a reputation of finding unicorns that wear pink sweaters, your list of “friends” is several miles long. And, you need their DNA to be the same as yours. It’s a blessing that we have so many who will answer our call at 2AM and help us get it done.
Praise God for His provision, His calling, His opening of doors, His grace and His way of rolling out the red carpet before the sun breaks the horizon.
